DP83869EVM: To be stand alone

HI,

DP83869HM can work stand alone by strap configuration without MDC MDIO connection.

To be 1000M media convertor I configured as photo, and the EVM worked as media converter.

After that I removed two 0 ohm registers (R77, R82 according to the schematic in datasheet, R78, R84 according to the silk on PCB) those connects MDC/MDIO line between DP83869 and MSP430.

EVM does not work. Are there any necessary configuration to be stand alone, or did I break the EVM?

    Hi Kyoichi,

    When you mention the EVM does not work, may I ask what is the behavior are you observing that shows the EVM does not work? Is the PHY no longer seeing the link up through LED_0 and LED_1?

    If possible, could you also remove the R76 and R78 in the EVM schematic and make sure there are no connection between on the MDIO/MDC lines on the DP83869 and see if the "non-working" behavior still occur?
