TUSB1002A: USB2.0/USB3.0 recognition issues

Part Number: TUSB1002A

Tool/software:

Dear TI Engineer,

We are faced a problem about the USB2.0/USB3.0 recognition issue when we using the TUSB1002A products. The application diagram is as follows:

The TUSB1002A is used in the middle of data lines (USB Cable) as a signal relay. When we connected the Notebook and the End device and then add the 12V to powe the device, the end device recognized on the Notebook Device Manager will be USB 2.0, even if we restart the end device, it will still be recognized as USB 2.0. But if we unplug the cable connected to the Type-C port of the computer and reinsert it, it can be recognize as the USB 3.0 device.

We tested different brands of notebook and found that most of them have this issue, while MAC books does not have this problem.

The schematic is as below:

We tried to remove the R1 to floating the MODE pin, we will meet a new problem. That is, after unplugging the USB cable which connected to the notebook, this device icon will still exist on the device manager.

When we using the USB-A to Type-C cable to connected the notebook and end device, this problem will not occur, and any thing goes normal.

Can you help analyze the cause of this problem?

Thanks,

Best Regards
