TUSB8040

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TUSB8040

I tried the new TUSB8040 EVB today and it still has the same problem as the old board: It does not work for low-speed devices (mouse/keyboard) that were tried. The same mouse and keyboard work fine when connected directly to the host USB3.0 port, and the same mouse and keyboard work fine when connected through a Vantec USB 3.0 hub (Via Labs VL810 USB 3.0 hub chip) to the host USB 3.0 port. Is this a known issue ?

There are no known issues with low speed devices behind the TUSB8040.   Can you provide information on the low speed device model numbers?  Also, which USB 3.0 host / driver?

  • JMMN,

    Host is:
    ASUS P7H57D-V EVO Motherboard
    Intel Core i5, 8GB RAM
NEC D720200F1 USB 3.0 Host Controller, using driver version 1.0.19.0.
    Windows 7 Ultimate

    Low speed devices tried:
    Labtec M-BR91 mouse (no operation)
Dell M-UK DEL3 mouse (no operation)
    Logitech M-UAE96 mouse (no operation)
    Compaq PR1101U keyboard (no operation)

    Full-speed devices tried:
Belkin F5U101 full-speed hub (no operation)

All of the above devices work correctly when directly connected to host USB 3.0 port or host USB 2.0 port.
All of the above devices work correctly when connected to the VL810 hub to the host USB 3.0 port or host USB 2.0 port.

  • Hi Kris,

Please update the NEC / Renesas driver to at least version v2.0.30 or greater.  The latest version is 2.1.27.

    Regards,

    Julie

  • Hi Julie,

This is the sequence of s/w updates we tried today:

    1. Updated the NEC/Renesas driver to 2.1.27.0: No change in problem behaviour.

    2. Updated ASUS P7H57D-V EVO motherboard BIOS to latest (1606 version): No change in problem behaviour.

    3. Updated Windows 7 for all required/recommended updates: Low-speed devices working correctly with TUSB8040.

I suspect both #1 and #3 were required s/w updates to get this working. The BIOS update also listed changes for USB 3.0, but not sure of the specific issues addressed by the update.

So, it seems we can close this issue. Thanks for your help.

    Regards,

    Kris
