I am using the TCAN1044 in our design.

For the Protection diodes what are the parameters need to include in the selection.

In the reference design they have used this part ESD2CAN24DCK

So ESD2CAN24DCK this part is having the reverse breakdown voltage of -24V to 24V

can we use this diode in my application

The driver will output voltages between 0 V and 5 V; the receiver works correctly with voltages between ±12 V. The device will not be damaged by voltages up to ±58 V.

What voltages to clamp depends on the signal voltages that can actually happen in your system; if the ground shift between your nodes is less than ±12 V, then you can use breakdown voltages less than ±12 V.

Anyway, 24 V is a good choice, and there is no better automotive-qualified ESD diode. (There are stronger TVS diodes like the TSD12C-Q1 or TSM24CA-Q1, but you'd need two of them.)

we are using at the 5V application.so in that case can we use this 24V ESD protection diode or does we need to go for other range.
