DS125DF410: Differences Between Manual CTLE and Adaptive CTLE

Part Number: DS125DF410

Tool/software:

To correct video signals after long-distance transmission via cables, I am considering using the DS125DF410 on the receiver board.

The DS125DF410 implements two methods for signal correction: Manual CTLE and Adaptive CTLE.

What are the differences and characteristics of these two methods?

Please explain in what use cases each method is useful.

Additionally, please provide the register settings for the DS125DF410 when using Manual CTLE and when using Adaptive CTLE.

  • Hi Tatsumasa-san,

Manual CTLE requires manually setting the CTLE value, while adaptive CTLE will automatically select the best CTLE value during the CDR lock process.

Adaptive CTLE is suitable for most use cases, but manual CTLE can be used in cases with fixed insertion loss.  Manual CTLE can also be useful for debugging in case there is concern regarding the adaptive CTLE value.

Please review the programming guide for this device.  You may find some of the example configurations helpful.  Additionally, please see section "3.14 Set Receiver Adapt Mode".
