  • Hi Steve,

Thanks for reaching out on E2E!

There is no planned obsolescence for SN65HVD74DGK. Ideally, I would recommend switching to one of our modern transceivers in the THVDxxx line. Particularly THVD1451 for better longevity (due to its more recent release), improved cost structure, higher ESD protection, and more. Feel free to list your key spec requests and I can recommend a solution.

If you need to stick with SN65HVD74, I would recommend the SN65HVD74DGKR. The "R" just signifies that the devices are packaged in a tape and reel. TI is moving away from tube packaging to save cost so I would recommend the "R" version.

  • Thank you Ethan, we have been designing with SN65HVD74DGK since a long time, will definitely take you suggestion for the Tape and Reel. Can you let me know if there is any EOL plan for the next 10 years?

  • Hi Steve,

I cannot speak to the exact 10 years, but we have no EOL plans at this time for either tube or tape and reel version of this device. However, just from the trends at TI, the "R" tape and reel version will have much better longevity, and I would still recommend switching to this version at your convenience.

    Best,

    Ethan
