DS90UB941AS-Q1: FPDLink to Display port converter requirement

Part Number: DS90UB941AS-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DS90UB984-Q1

Tool/software:

Hi,

we are using DS90UB941AS-Q1 in dual output mode for vehicle display interface using power over coaxial (PoC) concept using TE 4P MATE-AX connector.

We would like to interface DS90UB941AS-Q1 dual output directly to computer monitor over HDMI or display port connector.

Please suggest any convertor or bridge module readily available.

  • Hi Sagar,

We have the DS90UB984-Q1 that can be used to convert the FPD-Link output to display port to output to the computer monitor. Please reach out to your local FAE team to get access for the NDA datasheet if needed.

  • Hi Esther,

Thanks for your quick reply and suggesting DS90UB984-Q1.

I checked on it and I have below two doubts

    1. DS90UB984-Q1 supports FPDlink IV and Serializer we are using is FPDLink III (DS90UB941AS-Q1) so will it support?

    2. we need ready module, and I could see DS90UB984-Q1CEVMDS90UB984-Q1EVMDS90UB984-Q1MEVM available - Which would be more suitable, and does it come with DP/HDMI female connector? so that we can connect monitor directly?

  • Hi Sagar,

    1) Yes, the 984 is backwards compatible, so it supports FPD3 mode.

    2) The EVMs will all come with an adapter board such that you can connect to a monitor using a DP-DP connector. Unfortunately, this DP-DP connector is not provided with the kit.

In regards to which type of EVM you want to purchase, it depends on the connector type of your FPD-Link.

The CEVM supports Rosenberger HFM connector and is configurable to TE Connectivity MATE-AX connector by changing AC coupling capacitor orientation.

The EVM will use Rosenberger HMTD connector type and is configurable to SMA connector by changing the AC coupling capacitor orientation.

The MEVM will use Molex HSAL II connector and is configurable to SMA connector by changing AC coupling capacitor orientation.

If you are not sure what to buy, please share the connector type of the 941as board and I can help determine the best solution.

    BR,

    Esther
