Hi Gabriel,

You can use EEPROM <= 16Kbit. EEPROM like 24FC16 will work.

I read in this document that the EEPROM limit is 128B <= 1kB

"Clearly, since the memory address is eight bits, the maximum memory address is 0xFF or 255. This restricts the address space to 256 bytes. However, the retimer can address a larger address space than this. The maximum address space the retimer can address is 1024 bytes. This is the second requirement on the external EEPROM. • The size of the external EEPROM must be between 128 bytes and 1024 bytes"

Hi Gabriel,

I think there is some conflicting information between the EVM guide you shared and the EEPROM programming guide for these devices. The EEPROM programming guide mentions 16 kbit limit. With this said, I can confirm that older devices such as DS125BR401A have 8 kbit EEPROM limit.

Since there is some uncertainty here, you could select 8 kbit EEPROM instead.
