Can TUSB1104 be used to drive 5M USB 3.1 Gen 2 cable?
Hi Joel,
USB3.1 gen 2 is a 10Gbps signal.
5m may be too long for the TUSB1104. Is the 5m cable a USB compliant cable? What is the loss profile of the cable?
USB specifies no more than 6dB loss for a 1M cable. So 5M meter cable could be up to 30 dB.
An actual cable may be less than that but I could not find any information on loss measured on actual cable.
Hi Joel,
In this case a redriver may not be sufficient for this amount of loss. I recommend looking into retimers for application with high loss like this (20+ dB)
Hi Joel,
Unfortunately, TI does not have any USB retimers, so you will have to look online.
You can find some retimer options here: www.analogix.com/.../repeaters
