TUSB212: EQ Setting

Part Number: TUSB212
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TUSB211A, TUSB216,

Hi

R272 and R273 are currently set to NC.

Regarding R274, it is currently set to 3K. Could you please advise whether this value is appropriate, or if it should be reduced further?

The customer's application is a 5-meter Type-C cable, and the signal includes USB 2.0. If you have any recommended EQ settings for this application, please kindly let us know as well. Thank you!

  • Hi Gareth,

As a general recommendation, we recommend the TUSB216 or TUSB211A over the TUSB212.

For DC_BOOST, I recommend starting at a low level, with pin 9 PD to GND. Please keep in mind that in the datasheet, RDC1 is the resistor that connects the pin to GND.

For EQ, I recommend starting at EQ level 0, with a 0Ohm resistor. Then depending on the eye diagram, EQ can be increased as needed.

I see RSTN is PU. RSTN must not be PU, as the device is in reset when RSTN is PU. Just the 100nF PD cap is needed for timing.

Please ensure DP/DM are connected beneath the redriver.

    Thanks,

    Ryan

  • Hi Ryan

    Thank you for your suggestion.

    Regarding the status of RSTN,

I see the following in the specifications I have. Please confirm.

  • Hi Gareth,

Sorry, it was a mistake on my end, the RSTN pin does need to be high. However, the internal PU resistor removes any need for an external PU resistor. The RSTN pin only needs a 100nF PD cap for RSTN timing.

    Thanks,

    Ryan

    Got it ,Thanks
