LMH0046 application question

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMH0002, LMH0046, LMH0044, DS10BR254

Dear Sir

we have plan to do SDI extender and connect way as below:

SDI signal --->LMH0044---->LMH0046---->DS10BR254----> LMH0002*4

May we remove LMH0046 in our application? is any impact we need check?

                                     Best regards,

                                                           Bogey

  • Bogey,

    I would recommend that you plan to leave it in. The equalizer LMH0044 will fix a lot of jitter introduced by the long line, but it will not minimize it from a sloppy source. The DS10BR254 will certainly add some jitter, but not enough to warrant putting in four LMH0046's. The LMH0046 will provide minimal jitter and will supply the SD/HD bias control to the LMH0002 that you will need. You could design the board to have it in and a means to bypass it as cost saving measure. However if you allow both SH and HD, you will need to detect it and provide a control signal to the LMH0002. Make sure your design allows the LMH0046 to function at its best.
