100BaseFX Ethernet Phy needed with independent TX and Crystal clock

I am interested in a 100BaseFX ethernet phy which will allow me to select MII TX clock (for transmitting data to the fiber) and Crystal clock (needed for fiber data and RX clock recovery and for internal operation of the phy) to be independent. The Tx clock may be derived from an external source not synchronized with the crystal clock. And the MII RX clock again may be independent of these two, based on the partner phy. The application is to form a full duplex bi-directional ring from ethernet links in which there will be one master and others as slave for each direction, and it should be possible to select the clock master separately for each direction, clockwise as well as anticlockwise. I may synchronize clocking in both the direction to each other  or I may not.

  • Hi,

The PHYTER Ethernet products of TI offer low latency and determinism for high accuracy of overall system performance,

This include using the reference clock for the Transmit path.

We can not offer TX path transmit clock independent from reference clock.

However, RMII mode, which supply data from the PHY with a given clock might help you with the system you are tyring to build.

Are you refering to connect the PHY with fiber mode? the FX optics, use on board oscilator, and can not propogate clock on the fibers.

I hope I understood your request.

    Regards,

    Oren
