Meaning of Cable Link Detect Status bit 0 in DS92LX2121 register 0C?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DS92LX2122, DS92LX2121, AM3359

We are connecting an LCD display to a SubArctic AM3359 via a DS92LX2121/DS92LX2122 SERDES pair.  The display on the LCD is pretty good though not perfect, and I am seeing this bit report Cable link not detected.  My guess is that this refers to the I2C backchannel, since the deserializer reports lock.  Is this correct?  It is not well documented in the datasheet.  The PCLK detect bit is set in this register as expected.

  • The M/S pin on the deserializer was pulled high instead of low- when this was corrected the status bit indicated 1 as expected.  LCD display unaffected but presumably unrelated.

  • Hi Bruce,

On the DS92LX2121, register 0x0C bit[0] is updated by the signal detect circuit from the DOUT+/- pins. If a signal detected on the DOUT pins (either high speed forward channel or backchannel), then the signal will be considered as a valid signal/link and set the 0x0C register accordingly.
