I understand that if I wanted these to be certified 100% to be TI items then I would buy from a registered distributor with all paperwork...and I do that on some projects.  I think the problem stems from not having a quick reference to top marking.  I find some companies have it and some don't.  When you want to verify the parts in your kit are correct, it REALLY helps to have top-mark references.

Years ago I had a lady working for me who could put entire MIL 19500/... numbers on parts.  She could only do it after breathing a lot of the Markum fluid and would be happy the rest of the day...but the marks would be legible under a microscope.

I completely understand. Oddly, some datasheets will have top-side markings and some will not. It all depends on what group generated the datasheet. If you look at the "Packaging Information" table at the end of the datasheet some have a "Device Marking" column and some do not.

While we are waiting on a response, another thing that could help is if you can give the lot trace code which should be on the top as well. This way we can verify if it is indeed a device marking AND it was made at that time in that facility (greater confidence). If just attaching a picture works for you that might be the easiest.

Thanks for sending the pictures, that helps a lot. The engineer checked and they did see a lot of our HVD devices with “VP” in the symbol, but what is weird is that the lot trace code actually linked them to a different device.   So they have pushed this to another engineer who is in quality to get to the heart of this. Wanted to give you and update.

That worked. If you want to pursue filing a counterfeit claim, I was told we also need the following:

1)      High quality pictures of the 2D bar code labels.  Needed.

2)      Copies/pictures of shipping documents, i.e. packing slip showing the origin of the devices to TI or an authorized TI distributor.  (If this information cannot be provided we are unable to provide verification due to uncertainties regarding chain of custody of the products.) 

3)      Provide device application.

You may have already seen all of this since you had that form filled out, but TI strongly encourages you to purchase all your TI parts either directly from TI or from authorized TI distributors (http://focus.ti.com/docs/general/distribcountryresults.jhtml) and not from the gray market or brokers.

If you are not interested in continuing and providing this information, I will help get it filed. If not, just let me know and we can close this out.

I had already submitted what I had, but as these were a partial reel (cut-tape) I have no bar codes or TI shipping documents.  That's how brokers and many distributors work.

Device application?  That wasn't asked by the counterfeit team.

As you know, it's not always practical to purchase direct from TI or TI authorized distributors.  I often do, but not always.

I can provide you the same information I provided to the counterfeit team, but that stalled because I don't have TI shipping documents.  I've filed a fraud dispute with the payment system, the vendor has 14 days to provide proof these are real parts or I get a full refund.

If you wish to tag this as a suspicious vendor, please do.

I received a full refund, purchases through Alibaba/Aliexpress go into escrow.  As soon as I gave a link to your e-mail, the payment was refunded from escrow so the vendor never actually received anything.
