DS15BA101 about input clock

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DS15BA101

Hi,

I have a queastion about DS15BA101.

When DS1515BA101 is powered down, is the device possible to input clock?

However,I hope output clock is off at that time.

I would like to continue putting input clock regardless of having power supply or not.

Best Regards

  • Greetings,

When there is no power and we have active signals on the inputs, the device ESD would get forward biased and attempts to power up the device. However, short circuit protection would get triggered and prevents the device from powering on. I have used the device in this mode and did not observe output signal when power is off.

  • Nasser-San,

    Thank you for your response.

I understood that short circuit protection would get triggered and prevents the device from powering on.

    however,In Data sheet(page2.Absolute Maximum Ratings),

Input Voltege(all inputs) is defined as -0.3V to Vcc+0.3V.

If we input signal  during power down,

would that be against the Absolute Mazimum Ratings?

I am looking forward to hearing from you.

    Best Regards,

    Kato

  • To shiyuki-San,

I agree this would be against data sheet absolute maximum ratings. At the same time, we have tested this in the lab and have not observed a problem. Having said this, we should follow data sheet recommendations/specifications.
