DS26LV31T - ESD protection for output pin

Hi all,

Would you mind if we ask DS26LV31T?

<Question>
The datasheet shows that ESD protection is over 7KV about output pins.
If these pins are supplied over this value(7KV), these pins may be broken or not?
Please teach us above.

Hi Hirotaka,

The ESD rating number we put in a datasheet refers to the test voltage that had been applied to the device that the part can survive the test.

In this case, when we applied 7kV, the part survive, and in the old days, the DS said the part can withstand at least 7kV.

The proper way to specify ESD is to read this 7kV as the maximum. The part can withstand up to 7kV and beyond 7kV, it may or may not survive.
