HD, SD, DVB-ASI SDI Serializer and Driver with LVDS Interface LMH0040

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMH0040, LMH0041

Hello ,

I would like to use this component with a  FREESCALE processor IMX6,

the imx6 have just 4 lanes for data and clk LVDS interface

the LMH0040 have 5 lanes and clk LVDS interface

JEIDA 24bpp Data Mapping  (IMX6)

serializer input  slot0 slot1 slot2 slot3 slot4 slot5 slot6
lvds data0 G2 R7 R6 R5 R4 R3 R2
lvds data1 B3 B2 G7 G6 G5 G4 G3
lvds data2 DE VS HS B7 B6 B5 B4
lvds data3 CTL B1 B0 G1 G0 R1 R0

WHAT THE DATA MAPPING FOR YOUR DEVICE AND DO YOU THINK IT'S WORK??

THANKS .

HANAN.

  • Hi Hanan,

Since the LMH0040 is an LVDS-to-SDI interface serializer/driver, the device will simply serialize the data one LVDS pair at a time from least to greatest. Please see see p. 10 of the datasheet for the LVDS Data Order. When the data is serialized, the first output is the bit latched on input TX0, followed by TX1 thru TX4. There is no specific mapping like with our Channel Link I portfolio where there is a specific bit-by-bit mapping of RGB inputs to LVDS pairs.

To determine whether this serializer will work in your system, we need to see how the SDI data is being received and deserialized on the other end. Do you have a deserializer picked out? If you use a deserializer like the LMH0041, you will be able to present the same LVDS mapping that was given to the input of the LMH0040.

    Thanks,

    Michael
