Interfacing complementary LVTTL/LVCMOS to LVDS

Hi there,

I am trying to interface a complementary LVCMOS (or essentially differential LVTTL) signal to an LVDS. What is the best option that can be recommended? Looking at devices like the DS90LV001, it looks like it should be able to handle this interface. Can anyone confirm this?

In the Logic portfolio, we don't have any LVDS devices. I am moving this question to the High Speed Interface forum - they support parts like the DS90LV001.

Hi tbriseb,

The DS90LV001 is not designed for use with LVCMOS input signaling. Typically LVCMOS signals operate at a much lower speed than LVDS, and the LVDS signal topology at the DS90LV001 input is only compatible with other LVDS or LVPECL technologies, according to this design.

I am not aware of a device that is tailored to take in LVCMOS differential. However, there is an item in the TI portfolio supported by our Dallas High Speed team that can convert single-ended PECL to LVDS. Please take a look at the SN65LVDS16 and SN65LVDS18.

Another part that may be useful is the DS90LV011A, a differential driver that takes in LVTTL (single-ended) and outputs LVDS at data rates up to 400 Mbps.

Hi,

Another option is to simply ignore or terminate half of the complimentary LVCMOS signal and then use a converter device like the DS90LV017A or DS90LV047A to translate to LVDS.
