Dear Sir:

I promoted TPS65982 and HD3SS460 Type-C solution to my customer.

My customer have signed NDA to TI and got TPS65982 reference design.

My customer followed TPS65982 reference design and have a question is EEPROM (W25Q40L or W25Q80) purpose.

Becuase customer need download BIN file in EEPROM.

I browsed TI website and ESP have no any EEPROM information.

But I know TPS65982 EEPROM is optional parts, right?

Do we download any code in EEPROM of TPS65982?

Hi Lucas,

The TPS65982 external EEPROM or Flash is required for operation of the TPS65982. It is used to load the application code onto the TPS65982 IC. More detailed information on the Flash and its usage in the TPS65982 can be found in the TPS65982 datasheet which is located in the TPS65982 product folder.

Karl's answer is correct, and the Firmware User's Guide goes into even more detail about the Application Code and how it is loaded from the External Flash IC onto the TPS65982 during Boot.
