Hi Team,

Here comes a query from customer about the TPS65982 questions as below that need your help for advise;

1. when they set the USB3.1 type C port loading is 3A, and measured the device(TPS65982) PP_5V0 voltage is about 5.12V, but the VBUS voltage is 4.987V, they want to why there is 0.133V voltage different? Is the 4.987V within the USB3.1 type C specification? Will this voltage drop affect the USB3.1 type C functionality?

2. from the USB3.1 type C specification viewpoint, when in the 5V/3A load operation, what’s the min/typical/max voltage spec for VBUS?

The USB Type-C spec says the minimum VBUS voltage follows the USB2.0 and USB3 specs.

The USB3 spec says on page 582, section 11.4.5, that the minimum allowably voltage on VBUS at the upstream facing port is 4.0V

Therefore, your measured voltage of 4.987V is well within the spec.

Hi Team,

customer want to confirm if the current loading condition is at 5V/3A, is it still apply to the table 11-2 electrical characteristics? Since the below table 11-2 didn't mention the conditions. Please advise. Thanks.
