SN65HVDA100-Q1 / LIN dc-input voltage(VLIN)

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN65HVDA100-Q1, SN65HVDA195-Q1, HVDA100-Q1

Hi Team,

It seems absolute maximum voltage range of VLIN is -27V to 45V for SN65HVDA100-Q1.
On the other hand, the same range for SN65HVDA195-Q1 is -40V to 40V.

Could you tell me the background of the difference?
I would like to know why the lower limit of SN65HVDA100-Q1 is -27V although it is LIN2.1 compliant and seems newer than HVDA195.

Best Regards,

  • Hello Kensuke,

It seems that the abs max values are different because the HVDA100-Q1 is made with the LBC5 process, while the HVDA195-Q1 was made with the LBC4 process. You are correct that the HVDA100-Q1 is a newer part and it complies with the LIN 2.1 standard, while the HVDA195-Q1 complies with the older 2.0 standard. There may have been some shift in design goals towards the positive voltage range for the newer parts to fit customer needs as the device was created to meet the new 2.1 standard. Neither the LIN 2.0 standard nor the 2.1 standard state voltage tolerance requirements for the LIN pin in the physical layer of implementation.
