Is there Vcc and Rx-input timing (sequence) of SN65LVPE502A, please let me know.
【Background】
・Customer evaluating SN65LVPE502A for "HOST-ReDriver―HDD" connection.
・Monitoring USB analyzer is Teledyne Lecroy
・But Host's LFPS became unknown (Please see below)
・This movement is not always, it is sometimes.

⇒I'm looking for a cause.

Best regards,
Satoshi
  • Hello Satoshi-san,

Please share the power up sequence, I would like to know whether the USB device is powering up before the Host and if the re-driver is permanently attached to the HDD or the USB3 Host.

    best regards,

    Diego.

    Thank you for reply.
I checking customer sequence, please wait a little.

    Latest information is below.
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    ・USB analyzer is "Voyager M3i USB-TZP3-V02-X".
    teledynelecroy.com/.../protocoloverview.aspx

    ・Detailed connection is below.
①USB Host ― ②USB Connector ― ③USB cable ―
    ― ④USB Connector ― ⑤ReDriver(SN65LVPE502A) ― ⑥USB Connector ― ⑦HDD
※①and ② is the same board. ④~⑥ is the same board, too.
Analyse point is between ⑥ and ⑦.
     ⇒Is this connection no problem?

    ・Additional question
When ⑦HDD is not connect, are ① and ⑤ high impedance?

  • Hello Satoshi-san,

I think I found the issue, the re-driver it is intended to be on the host side, but the described implementation suggests that the SN65LVPE502A is attached to the device side instead. If it is possible try to repeat the test by disconnecting both sides of the re-driver, then connect the re-driver to the Host and finally to the HDD. Otherwise you can reset the USB interface of the HDD after the issue happens.

A second approach is to use the SN65LVPE502B instead. which is device-side oriented.

    Regards,
    Diego.

    Thank you for information.

    Customer connect timing is below,
①Host and SN65LVPE502A are connect and power ON
    ②Finally, connect to HDD
    ⇒Problem is occured.

    Best regards,
