how can I configure SN65LVCP114 as bypass mode?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN65LVCP114

Hi,

Just for test, I want to disable all functions such as EQ, and use SN65LVCP114 as switch.

at this test, the only thing I need is just select lanes, and do not disturbed by other functions.

If this possible, please let me know how.

thanks,

  • If I disable the AGC, is it regard to bypass the signal?
  • Hi TS Yang,

Unfortunately in this device we don't have a way to disable DC Rx/TX gains neither EQ.

The best you can do is to set Rx gain to 1(0dB), this applies if input voltage swing is below 600 mVpp

Select 1.3dB EQ, peaking around 6GHz.

Select VOD gain at 1dB, this will limit output voltage swing to 600mVpp

AGC is used to reduce the EQ difference between from part to part.

  • thanks for your quick answer.
    please check below additional questions.

you said the input voltage level is over 600mV, then input gain is 0.5, otherwise input gain is 1.
also I found your comment at the datasheet.

    1. is there any reason why we should setting like above?
    2. input level 1200mV ,Rx gain 1 , output VOD 600mV - is this setting has any problem?
    3. input level 1200mV, Rx gain 1, output VOD 1200mV - is this setting has any problem?
  • Hi TS Yang,

Yes, for proper functioning you need to attenuate input signal to avoid saturation of input circuitry.

The parameter Vod is kind of confusing, this is a linear redriver so you don't really set the Vod, what you set is the maximum Vod.

So, If input level is 1.2V and GAIN is 0, the input circuitry will saturate and device won't work properly.

IF you set Vod=600mV/1200mV, the output signal will be up to this range, it won't have that fixed value.
