TPS65986: TPS65986 about USB3.0

Part Number: TPS65986
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: HD3SS460

Dears,

I use TPS65986 in a tablet computer, but I have troubles now.I use the two devices of TPS65986 and HD3SS460 like Figure 81 in the Specification of TPS65986,and my circuit is a Single-Port tablet computer Application.

1.When I inserted a U disk of USB3.0,the system worked well, but when I inserted a removable disk of USB3.0,no communication between removable disk and tablet computer, and I measured the voltage of VBUS of Type-C at this time, the voltage was pushed down. If this was because removable disk needed more current or some others reasons?
2.When the tablet computer in shutdown state was chargering by Typc-C from a 5V source,at this time the computer closed chargering and the ID pin was pull low if I started the computer, computer recognised the charging source as a slave,so it closed charging. Why did this happen? And I pluged again, the computer could recognised the charging source of Type-C as a master, and the ID pin is high.

  • Hello Jianguo,

    1. Please confirm the removable disk you are using does not have any issues. When attaching the removable disk, VBUS should go to 5V. If there is no issue with the removable disk, please confirm your configuration settings are correct.

    2. In your control configurations, please ensure that "externally powered" is enabled. If not, please map "Barrel Jack Detect" to a GPIO pin.

    Thank you,
    Eric
