SN75DP126: SN75DP126 / HDMI compliance test

Part Number: SN75DP126

Hi,

From Fig 26 in datasheet, I understand that I2C_CTL_EN should be High to enter DP126 to compliance test mode. Then is it necessary to set I2C_CTL_EN to Between VIL and VIH or High for HDMI complicance testing? In other words, can the system using DP126 pass HDMI compliance test with I2C_CTL_EN=Low (No local I2C control) ?

Best Regards,

Sonoki / Japan Disty

  • Hi Sonoki,

DP126 can pass I2C compliance when I2C_CTL_EN=LOW, is compliance mode is to make easier compliance testing.

Through local I2C registers, the device can be forced into ignoring TMDS_HPD_SNK, DP_HPD_SNK, and CAD_SNK; HPD_SRC and   CAD_SRC Compliance Test outputs are programmed through local I2C registers (default output low); all other configurations (such as output signal conditioning and EQ settings) are programmable through the local I2C registers in this state

    Regards

  • Hi Garcia,

Please ask more about HDMI compliance test mode.

    1. In the Table 4 in datasheet, there is description about Compliance Test Mode. Then does it mean DP compliance test mode, HDMI compliance test mode or both?
    2. My customer need only HDMI compliance test, not need DP compliance test. Then is it needed (recommended) to set I2C_CTL_EN to Low when we need only HDMI compliance test?

    Best Regards,

  • Hi Sonoki,

The compliance mode doesn't  configure the device to works specially in DP or HDMI compliance mode, it just ignores TMDS_HPD_SNK. DP_HPD_SNK and CAD_SNK.

    HPD_SRC and CAD_SRC are controlled by I2C.

This means, the compliance mode just makes easier the control of HPD and CAD signals, by I2C you have to configure HPD_SNK, CAD_SNK and select the desired sink.

Customer can run compliance testing in normal mode operation but they have to take control of HPD and CAD signals by GPIO
