TFP401: TFP401

Part Number: TFP401
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DS90C387A, DS90CF388A,

Hi,

The TFP401 is used to drive Full HD 1080p LVDS type display panel with DS90C387A/DS90CF388A
Dual Pixel LVDS Display Interface / FPD-Link serializer chip.

1) We wants to send it high resolution video of 1080p , Will the TFP401 have problems receiving DVI video of that resolution?

2) Also – does the TFP401 have any way to communicate over the EDID bus?  As we are going to interface display board with Orange Pi ,will it need to be configured in Orange Pi for EDID contents ?

3) I've gone through the TFP401 datasheet and got to know that it will not support video scaling ,so does it will for high resolution Full HD LVDS display type (through DS90C387A/DS90CF388A
Dual Pixel LVDS Display Interface / FPD-Link serializer chip.) ?

Looking forward for your great support !!

Thanks

  • Hello,
    1) It does support 1080p but at a lower frame rate, actually the TFP401 does not care about resolution but about pixel clock, so it will support any resolution as long as the pixel clock is within spec.
    2) No, the TFP401 is not involved on the EDID exchange, that will happen directly between the video source and video sink.
    3) Same as 1), the TFP401 will just de-serialize whatever comes in the TMDS stream with a pixel clock between 25MHz and 165MHz
