Hello,

The SN65LVDxx datasheet states that the abs max differential input voltage is 1V for the SN65LVDT2 version. What is the abs max for the SN65LVDS2 version?

The recommended operating conditions show differential input voltage magnitude of 0.6V. Can the SN65LVDS2 operate with Vid = 0.9V?

    Actually a max differential input voltage recommended for both devices is 0.6v. 1v abs max recommended is stress rating only and it wouldn't be applied.

    Could you clarify 2 things?

    1. In the datasheet page 4, it states that the input voltage max is is Vcc-0.8V. So say my Vcc is 3.6V, then my max input voltage (any combination of input or common mode voltage) is 2.8V. But the datasheet also states that the high level input voltage is 5V. How can the high level input voltage have a max of 5V when the VCC max is 3.6V and input voltage max is Vcc-0.8V?

    2. In the thread above, you mention that the differential input voltage is 0.6V max. Is this a constant value across input common mode voltages? Would a lower Vic mean a higher Vid is supported?

    Hi Adomino,

    For question 1: Datasheet section 9.3.1.3 has given the explanation. 

    For question 2: Input common mode voltage range doesn't has strong relations with input differential voltage range. 

    Input common mode voltage range should make sure that input MOSFETs are working in a proper region. If input common mode voltage is too high, both of the two input MOSFETs will turn off.

    Input differential voltage range should make sure that tail current won't only flow through one input MOSFET. If input differential voltage is too high, all the tail current will flow through one MOSFET and the other one will turn off.

    If input differential voltage of SN65LVDS2DBVRG4 is too high (0.9V) and only one MOSFET is on, will it cause false trigger ?
