SN65DP141: Inter-pair length mismatch

Hi,

I would like to ask if the SN65DP141 is suitable for Display port 1.4 application.
Also i would like to ask what is the maximum inter-pair length mismatch for the differenatial pairs in Display port application.

Hi Kostas,

For DP1.3/DP1.4 we recommend TUSB546-DCI as DP redriver.

There is no maximum inter-pair length mismatch from the specification, the specification has skew limits in time, but those limit depend on the application(source, sink, adaptor and PCB material).

Refer to DP specification for more details.

Thanks for the recomendation for the TUSB546-DCI.

I am also looking for an external ESD protection to use which should be suitable for DP1.4. Is the TPD4E02B04 the correct device to use for DP 1.4?

Hi Kostas,
I'm not familiar with this device, however, it supports Type-C applications and an alternate mode is DP over Type-C.

Hi Kostas,
TPD4E02B04's datasheet mention it supports DP1.3, DP1.4 and PD1.3 use the same electrical signaling, so, it should work with DP1.4 too.
The main difference between DP1.3 and DP1.4 is that DP1.4 supports compressed transmissions.
