SN65LVDS387: Max. Current Consumption

Hi,

I'm using SN65LVDS387DGG driver in my design.

For the power n calculation of the board, I wanted to know the worst case maximum current consumption for the device.

Can anyone please help me with the data, I could not understand the datasheet inputs.

Hi,

Can you send the test case for the worst case scenario on your system? such as data rate, Vdd, load, VIN, how many line drivers, and etc.

Hi Dennis,

Scenario:
Data rate: 20Mbps
VDD:3.3V
Load: 5pF
Drivers used: 16 (all)

The part used as receiver is SN65LVDS386DGG.

Hi Nanjunda,

Due to the age of this device, I can't find char data associated with this test case.

Do you have the SN65LVDS387EVM? If so, you can easily perform this test by yourself.

Unfortunately, we don't have the EVM.

If you have can you please check the same and get me the data?

Or can you please tell me the approximated value of the current consumption case as I'm running out of time.

Hi Nanjunda,

Based on your setup, I can only provide you the approximate ICC based on the Figure 2. 'LVDS387 Supply Current (RMS) vs Switching
Frequency Frequency on page 9 of datasheet. The Max ICC is less than 95mA.

If you are running full load at 400Mbps, the ICC is approximately 170mA.

35-mW Total Power Dissipation in Each Driver Operating at 200 MHz
