TPS2031: EN ESD to VIN

Hi Team,

Good afternoon, my customer is using the TPS2031 in their design. In their use case they will have EN powered when VIN is not powered and wanted to understand if this could lead to a long term reliability issue. The concern is that there may be a ESD Diode path from EN to VIN.

Can you confirm if there is an ESD Diode from EN to VIN? If EN = 3.3V and VIN = 0V, could this cause a long term issue?

Hi John,
Just want to clarify your quesiton, by Vin = 0V, do you mean floating to a Vin cap, w/o voltage.
While EN to 3.3V by a pull up resistor, correct?

Hi Feifei,

The customer has let me know:
EN is driven high by a microcontroller powered by a separate 3.3V rail.
The VIN to the TPS2031D is unpowered… so yes, floating.

Hi John,
Cheched internally, the ESD input for the EN pin is different structure (there is no diode connection between EN and VIN). So the customer is allowed to have the EN pin high regardless of the VIN pin. It should be no problem.
