We are planning to use PCIe FET switch TS2PCIE2212 in one of our new design.

In our use case, 4 lane PCIe Gen 2 signals from PCIe slot shall either be connected to a PCIe device 1 or device 2. Hence, we will have 1 source and 2 destinations.

Please clarify us the below points:

1. Does the selected switch support required configuration?

2. How should we terminate source B? Can this be left open(NC)

3. Can we connect CTRL A and CTRL B pins together and provide strapping option through a jumper?

Please let us know this information at the earliest.

Hi Sushruta,

1. Yes, this switch could support 4 independent mux/demux options as you described. However, this device only supports Gen-1 applications (up to 2.5 Gbps). I recommend using a similar higher-performance passive switch: HD3SS3412A. This device has bandwidth to support up to 12 Gbps operation.

2. For unused sources, they can be left open or terminated with 50-Ohms to GND on each polarity.

3. Assuming you are using the TS2PCIE2212, I'm not sure what is meant by CTRL A and CTRL B pins. There are only CTRL_0 and CTRL_1 pins, and these pins control both A and B for Lane 0 or Lane 1 There is no individual control of A and B within the same Lane.

As we want industrial grade component, we are planning to use equivalent part HD3SS3411.

Port select pin SEL will be controlled by jumper setting option.

Is there any alternate option available for 5 channel pcie 2.0 differential switch in industrial grade.

Where in 4 channels for data, and 1 for PCIe refclk.

Hi Sushruta,

Due to PCIe typically coming in x1, x4, x8, and x16 configurations, the analog switches in our portfolio come in sets of x1 or x4. From the perspective of a simple analog switch for PCIe Gen2 applications with an industrial grade, the only option I currently see in the portfolio is the HD3SS3411.
