DS90UB953-Q1: STP cable usage for DS90UB953 to DS90UB914 Seriliazer/Deserializer Combination

Hi Team,

I have a question regarding the Usage of STP cables for our SERDES combination:

Can a STP cable be used between a camera with a connected to a DS90UB953 serializer and when the connected processor design uses a DS90UB914 deserializer?

If I am not mistaken the combination of DS90UB913/14 can be used with STP cable.

Hi Oz,

Yes, an STP cable can be used with the DS90UB953 to DS90UB914 combination. If you are using an EVM, the 953 is set to work with Coax by default. For STP, you would need another connector on the board with the proper differential routing for the P and N terminals.

If you are using a 914 EVM, please follow the steps in section 4.3 of the EVM User Guide to set the board up for STP.

Hello,

Presently we don't have a reference design for 953 with STP. Please follow the recommended application circuit in the datasheet with FPD-Link connection as shown in figure 19.
