TUSB215: design part selection

Part Number: TUSB215
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TUSB211,

Hi team,

There is an USB 2.0 with cable 5m design case.

In the datasheet, we see "Supports up to 5m pre-channel or 2m post-channel Cable Length".

What's the meaning for pre-channel and post-channel?

Also, the design would like to just use HW.

what's the design consideration for using TUSB211/3/5?

Thank you!

  • Zoe,

Pre-channel generally refers to the any length of cable or trace going into the receiver of TUSB215 or other redrivers.

Post-channel generally refers to the any length of cable or trace going out of the transceiver of TUSB215 or other redrivers. See image below.

TUSB211/3/5 can be used in pinstrap mode so that SW is not needed. Does this answer your second question?
