SN65MLVD082: Question regarding SN65MLVD082/80 pin setup

Part Number: SN65MLVD082
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN65MLVD080,

Hello!

I had a question regarding the SN65MLVD082 or SN65MLVD080 pin configuration. When the receiver pin is high, are all the channels now receivers, even when the drive signal is high on a particular channel?  If I want to use some channels as receivers, and some as drivers simultaneously, how do I do that?  Do I turn the DE signals high on the channels I'd like to use as drivers, and leave the reeiver enable pin high?

In other words, can I use any of the channels as a driver when the RE signal is high.

Thanks!

Andrew

  • Hello Andrew,

You can use some channels as drivers and some as receivers. Any driver that has DE is asserted (high) will be driving the LVDS output. If /RE is asserted (low), then all receivers are enabled. That doesn't affect the drivers that have DE asserted.

For example, if only 1DE is asserted high (2DE through 8DE are deasserted low) and /RE is asserted low, then for channel 1 the driver is enabled and the receiver is also enabled - basically it is in listen-while-talking mode. Channels 2 through 8 will be only receiving.

    Regards,
    Yaser
