DP83630: Auto-negotiation and Auto-MDIX

Hi team,

My customer wants to set below configuration.

・100BASE-TX and Full-Duplex fixed
・Auto-MDIX enable

I think the custome should use the Advertised Mode(AN_EN=1/AN1=1/AN=0:100BASE-TX, Full-Duplex).
Because I think that when Auto-negotiation is disabled Auto-MDIX can not be enabled and the customer can't use Forced Mode.

Is this correct? Please let me know.

Hi Fumio,

You can enable forced 100BASE-TX (Half/Full) with Auto-Crossover enabled.
You can also force MDI/MDIX if you want.
Auto-MDIX is dependent on Auto-Negotiation for this device, which is why you need Auto-Crossover for the DP83630.

Hi Fumio,

I am sorry for the confusion.
For the DP83630 you do need to use Auto-Crossover and not Auto-MDIX when in forced mode.

BMCR(00h) bit12 AUTO-NEGOTIATION ENABLE = "0"
BMCR(00h) bit8 DUPLEX MODE = "1"

PHYCR(19h) bit15 MDIX_EN = "0"
PHYCR(19h) bit14 FORCE_MDIX= "0"

PCSR(16h) bit15 AUTO_CROSSOVER = "1"

Yes, the above setting are correct for 100Mbps Full-Duplex with Auto-Crossover enabled.
