Do you have a chip that carries out the double role, i.e., protection against short circuit and ESD protection to low speed and high speed signals?

    From the pinout of the Type-C connector, CC and SBU pins are adjacent to VBUS where the risk of VBUS short is greater. Because of this our integrated solution TPD6S300 provides protection against short circuit and ESD on these pins. As the high speed lines are not near VBUS on the Type-C connector, customers do not want to pay for a more expensive device to protect against short circuit as well as ESD on these lines. Instead ESD protective devices are placed on the high speed lines. A good example for ESD protection which has low capacitance and does not affect transmission of high speed signals is TPD1E01B04.

    In short, we do not have a chip that provides short circuit protection and ESD protection on all low speed and high speed lines. For more information on choosing the right ESD device for high speed lines please visit
