HD3SS3415: Bidirectional LVDS switching using PCIe switch

Part Number: HD3SS3415

Hi,
I am planning to use a point to point LVDS interface for source synchronous data transfer over SMA cables between 2 units comprising of FPGA units.
The total no. of channels required for this application is around 16 so, I am planning to use bidirectional data flow between these 2 units in order to minimize total no. of SMA connectors on the PCBA due to size constraints.(The connector form factor is a fixed requirement as another unit is developed by customer themselves.)
The BW requirement for my application is around 600 MHz and initially I was looking for some bidirectional LVDS buffer but couldn't find anything in this BW range.
Now I am thinking to use HD3SS3415 for my application according to following attached diagram.
Although I could have designed my board without any interface ICs but I am planning to have extra security for FPGA apart from the clamping circuit using diodes.

I will use port A on the connector side which can be either receiving the data or transmitting the data. Port B will be used as TX and the path of data flow will be from B to A while port C will be used as RX and path of data flow will be from A to C. The mux selection will be static and we'll dump the settings in the MCS files during boot only- it doesn't needs to be dynamic. The length of cable is around 3 meters and I am planning to use cables of BW around 4GHz. The signalling is LVDS with common mode of 1.2V and VSS swing 800mV.

My question is - Will this work for my system? Am I assuming it correctly? Although this is a switch rather than a buffer, but insertion loss for my application should not be more than -0.5dB; right? Would you recommend any other product based on my needs, if any available?

Requesting you to reply as earlier as possible since I am in last stage of design finalization.
