LMH1981: could you please review the requirements and give your suggestions? About Genlock

Part Number: LMH1981
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMH1982, , LMH1983, LMK05028

Hi team,

My customer wants to use the device LMH1981+LMH1982 to achieve the Genlock function.

Requirements below:

1.equipment A and equipment B Stitching synchronization to get the Genlock.

2.Genlock(source)--->Genlock IN(A)---->Genlock OUT(A)---->Genlock IN(B)---->Genlock OUT(B)......

3) Genlock IN pin use LMH1981 as H/V separation to provide the SYNC signal for the system.

could you please review the requirements and give your suggestions?

Thanks.

  • Hi Frank,
    What's the Genlock source?
Do you like equipment A relay a Genlock signal for equipment B ?

    Shawn
  • I suggest to fan out Genlock source to Equipment A and Equipment B.
Otherwise, there is a delay from Genlock IN to Genlock OUT.
  • Frank,

    In addition to Shawn's comments...

Yes, LMH1981 can provide H/V/F sync separation from an analog composite or component video signal (black burst or tri-level sync).

Also, Instead of the LMH1982 jitter cleaner/clock gen, you may also consider either LMH1983 (successor device that support both 3G-SDI clock rates simultaneously with audio clock domain) or LMK05028.  See section 3.6 "DPLLs in Broadcast Video" in this application report:
