DP83825I: Repeater Mode / Back-to-Back PHYs

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLK105, DP83825I

Dear Team,

our customer is looking for a ETH repeater. We found following solutions that are bases on two back-to-back PHYs:

  1. DP83848 & appnote SNLA076A that shows in section 6 the implementation for full Duplex
  2. TLK105* that can also be used in this case (this E2E post was referring to the same appnote SNLA076A)
    * We are aware that this part is NRND - the customer might want to use rest of their inventory.
  3. DP83825I (PREVIEW) whose datasheet describes this use case (page 15 / 8.3.5)

The implementation from (1) and (3) are very similar. (1) uses a clock that is connected to both PHYs, (3) is showing a clock that is connected to the master PHY only.

The question: Does (3) have any differences and advantages over (1) in the use case of the Repeater Mode with Back-To-Back PHYs?

Thanks and best regards
Martin
