I'm currently using one TFP410MPAPREP to convert 24 bits RGB to HDMI.

Can I use another transmitter, TFP410MPAPREP, to convert the same 24 bits RGB to another HDMI port

So, I can have 2 independent HDMI ports display 2 monitor

Hi Tommyn,

That wouldn't work as the signals would not be strong enough to drive both TFP410s since the voltages would be divided.

You would need to use level shifters or some other logic to be able to split the signals. I will go ahead and move this thread to the logic section to see if our experts there have IC recommendations for you.

By RGB signals, do you mean the analog RGB video signals, or are these digital signals?

To help find the right parts, I will need to know the operating voltages and the maximum data rate (assuming these are digital signals)

They're digital signals, there are 24bit LCDs (8 bits per RGB color) video interface with up to 1280x860 resolution, 3.3v operating voltage

The maximum clock frequency for the TFP410 is 165 MHz, so for simplicity I believe we can say that less than 165 Mbps is the upper limit on the data rate. You'll also need to split HSYNC, VSYNC, DE, and the clock, so that will bring the total amount of digital signals that need to be split to 28.

If you want to redrive a 165 MHz clock (ie a 330 Mbps data stream), and 27 other similarly fast digital signals at 3.3V, there's not a lot of options in the standard logic portfolio.

The two options I found would be the SN74AVC16827 (20 bit buffer) or the SN74AVC16244 (16 bit buffer). The total number of channels required is 28*2=56 (assuming you want one driver per channel), which means the way to get the fewest ICs on the board would be to use 3x SN74AVC16827 and leave 4 channels unused.

I'd like to design sound output to HDMI. What IC would you recommend?

BTW, I'm using the TFP410 for the LCD display.

I'm afraid that my expertise lies in standard logic devices -- voltage translation, buffers, logic gates, etc. I don't really know that much about the HDMI interface.

Can you tell me what exactly you're trying to do?
For example, are you trying to send a 3.3-V 100 kbps digital signal to two different ICs on the same board?

I'm trying to interface the audio signals from audio codec (CS4271) to HDMI (Same HDMI carry the graphic lines) so the audio and graphic can use on the same HDMI cable

That doesn't really tell me much. I need voltage, frequency, number of channels, bit rate... etc.
