Hi Sir,

Our customer want to design TYPE C to DP dongle, we are see the TUSB1064RNQEVM need the TPS65982+TUSB1064 on PCB.

Q1: Is this application need both chip on product? or customer choose one TPS65982 or TUSB1064 can be have TYPE C to DP function?

We are see the TI TPS6598xEVM Used the FTDI on PCB, If we want to write firmware to TPS65987D.

Q2: Is FTDI necessary? or we can  Jump I2S & SPI trace to device programming solutions.

Q3: Does TI have TPS6598x for Active cable ref design? 

Q4: Could you please share the TPS65987D DNF for me?

    Q1: Yes, for creating a Type-C to DP dongle, you will need both the TPS65982 or TPS65987D, and the TUSB1064

    Q2: For the end device, having an FTDI is not necessary. The role that the FTDI plays is to allow you to program and debug the TPS6598x device using a USB connection. It is useful in evaluation settings, but not needed for final designs. For the final application you will need a SPI Flash to flash the TPS6598x

    Q3: No, we do not have any current reference designs for active cable.

    Q4: Would you be able to elaborate on what the DNF is? I do not know that abbreviation.

    If our customer want to design the C to DP with cable, then they can be use TPS65987 one chip solution?

    Hello Hugo,

    Yes, the TPS65987D is the correct part to use for a project like this. You can follow this app note to help implement a Type-C to DP alt mode

    For hardware reference, the TPS65987-90EVM does not have a DP port on the EVM itself, but has an expansion header where a DP source or sink expansion module can be connected. Here are the link to both user's guides
