SN65LVDT14: Is their a maximum load that the SN65LVDT14 chip can handle?

I am looking for what the maximum load is for these chips (ie, I want to see what the max I can get away with in terms of multiple drops and fan outs across multiple pcbs). What spec on the datasheet will help find it?

Hello,

While the output drive current is not directly specified, notice that the VOH/VOL are specified for a current of 8 mA, so the device should be able to supply such current.
Also, you can look at the Typical characteristics plots of VOH vs. IOH and VOL vs. IOL. Please keep in mid, however, that these are typical characteristics and are not guaranteed.

Just want to add, that I assumed you are talking about the single ended side. Please let me know if that is not the case.

Hello,

The differential (LVDS) side follows the LVDS standard and drives 3.5 mA (typical) to produce 350 mV with a 100 ohm termination. This is specified in the LVDS standard (TIA/EIA-644-A). Theoretically, an LVDS driver can drive 32 LVDS receivers in a multi-drop configuration, but in practice the number will be lower and depends on how long is the distance from driver to receivers, type of connection/cable, length of stubs (unterminated receivers in the middle, since there will be only one termination at the last receiver), etc... The following app note has detailed analysis of an example of multidrop LVDS, if you like to know more about this in general.
