SN75LVCP601: SN75LVCP601 trace length

Part Number: SN75LVCP601

Hi

Can yo help to explain what is that mean in datasheet?

 1. Does it mean the trace length at lease need 3 inches before input to LVCP601?

2. the cap should place near to LVCP601 or SATA connector or in the middle?

  • Hi Eric,

    1. Very short input traces can compromise the equalizer output, even at lower gain levels.  It is recommended to have a minimum of 3 inches of trace to the Rx inputs.

    2. The capacitor placement is not critical, but I recommend to keep it in the middle or at the connector to avoid possible reflections between the capacitor and the LVCP601 impacting the signal quality.  Adding a GND relief (hole in the reference plane) immediately below the capacitor footprint can help to minimize any impedance change and improve overall eye opening.

    Regards,
