TUSB1046A-DCI: AC-Coupling Cap on RX Lane

Dear Team,

From the datasheet, the reference circuit doesn't put AC-Coupling cap on RX lane between TUSB1046A and Type-C Connector.

My customer would like to know will TI notify about this AC-Coupling cap in Datasheet or reference schematic?

If they reserve this cap on RX lane, do they require to reserve the pulldown resistor also? What is the spec of the pulldown resistor?

The AC coupling caps on the RX lines are optional. Please see attached USB ECN on the RX AC coupling caps.

Hi David,

Could we put some descriptions in datasheet? So that the customer can follow it.

This ECN doesn't mention the value of pulldown resistor. Isn't it necessary?

I would recommend having the pulldown (220k) to make sure the line is properly biased to 0V.

The datasheet is a electrical and functional description of the device, it can't cover every aspect of USB3 spec and every ECN associated with the spec.
