TDP158: How to connect HPD Sink Source Pins

Hi,

my customer wants to use TPS158 but we are not sure how to connect to  the HDMI TX or the receptable.

Especially the marked sentenced bring question marks to me.

What do you recommend and under what conditions?

What is snoop mode?

    1. You can connect HPD directly between the Source and the Sink, and then have TDP158 HPD_SNK connected directly to the HPD connection between the Source and the Sink while leaving HPD_SRC floating. This is the snoop mode because TDP158 is snooping the HPD connection between the Source and the Sink. 

    2. Or you can have TDP158 HPD_SNK connected to the HPD from the sink and the HPD_SRC connected to the Source HPD.

    For both cases, HPD_SNK max voltage is 6V while HPD_SRC max voltage is 4V. Depending on HPD voltage of the Source and Sink, you may need to have level shifter.

    Also, some devices would have leakage on HPD when they are off, so we recommend people to put a switch on HPD_SNK to isolate this leakage voltage.
