TUSB1042I: Can TUSB1042I be used for TypeC in UFP configuration?

Part Number: TUSB1042I
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TUSB321AI

Hello,

According to the Pin Configuration/Function table on page3 of the datasheet (SLLSF15D), it seems as if the TypeC connections (Tx1/Rx1/Tx2/Rx2) are only used for Downstream Facing Port mode.

The front page "Simplified Schematics" diagram also shows the TUSB1042I connected to a USB Host (DFP).

However, I'd like to be able to use this chip in a UFP mode, where I connect TypeC (4 channel) upstream to a Host and TypeA (2 channel) downstream to a Hub.

Is this possible?

It seems like you have this exact configuration depicted in the Figure 22/Figure 23 example, showing this chip used in both UFP/DFP modes, on either side of the TypeC cable connections.

Are there any special settings or limitations in using this chip to function in UFP mode?

Thanks for any pointers.

Regards,
