SN65LVDS93: solution ask

Hi Team,

My customer's have an application that needed Serdes Serializer , the spec is : Vin(TTL 24-bit DVI) to LVDS singal.

customer found that SN65LVDS93 seems suitable but this device is 28 bits, so they wanted to ask if this devices still fit for 24 bit's application , or there's other solution might be suitable for their requirement?

per my quick check we seems didn't have the 24 bits solution , I assume that customer can't left the unused bits floating and keep use SN65LVDS93 as solution.

not sure if my assumption is right , please kindly to provide the feedback . thanks a lot!

Hello Andy,

Yes this would be a good device to use for 24 bit video. 28 bits are commonly used because in addition to RGB color data, there are also synchronization signals: vertical sync, horizontal sync, and data enable, plus a reserved bit is typically included. The LVDS standard has 7 bits per clock cycle and 4 data lanes: 7*4 = 28 bits.

thanks a lot for feedback, quick check , if remain bits are not used (28-24=4bits), just left floating is that right?

Hello Andy,

I would suggest that any unused bits are tied either high or low to ensure they are in a known state.
