DS32EL0124: Transfer data using cat5/cat6 cables

Hi,

We want to transfer data at 3.125Gbps, using the DS32EL0124/DS32EL0421 via CAT5 or CAT6 cables.

There is an unclear contradiction between the data sheets and the AN-1887 application note.

Is there an EVB to testing the chip, or do you know of another customer that uses the chip in our conditions?

Hi Adiel,

You can use these devices with CAT5/CAT6 cable. There are no EVM for this device though. What is the unclear contradiction you referenced?

The contradiction is about the maximum cable length.

Sorry to ask again - but I want to make sure.

Is it possible to transfer data at 3.125Gbps with cat5/cat6 cable, 20 meters long?

Hi Adiel,

Referencing the application note, it should be possible with cat6 cables. It hasn't been verified for cat5 cables at that distance/data rate though.
