TUSB1044RNQEVM: Active Cable Reference Design

Part Number: TUSB1044RNQEVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TUSB1044

Dear Team,

My customer and I have a question about TUSB1044 active cable reference design.

http://www.ti.com/lit/ug/sllu265b/sllu265b.pdf

In this design, it only use one switch instead of PD controller to control CTL0/CTL1/FILP pin of TUSB1044. I think the switch is convenient for us to control these three pin manually.

But in real case, don't we need to add one PD controller for the receptacle type-C connector  to determine these three pins? otherwise, it cannot know which lane is DP or U3, am I right?

Regards,

Jim
