TUSB215: TUSB215/TUSB551 max drive transmission distance and test data and cable material.

Part Number: TUSB215
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TUSB551,

Hi,

My customer is going to have USB related design.

(For USB2.0: TUSB215,  For USB3.0: TUSB551)

Please help to provide comments for the following questions:

1. For USB2.0: TUSB215, what is the max drive transmission distance ,and the suggested cable material and test data which can meet the max drive transmission distance

2. For USB3.0: TUSB551, what is the max drive transmission distance ,and the suggested cable material and test data which can meet the max drive transmission distance

Thanks.

  • Hi Mike,

Could you give some details about your application? It is hard to give specific max transmission distances as it depends on the transmission media used in your application . One key factor to understand of your chosen transmission media is the insertion loss.

In general, TUSB215 can help to compensate for USB cables up ~4m as measured at the far end. TUSB551 can help to compensate up to 9 dB of loss in the pre-channel and 6 dB of loss in the post-channel. Quality of the PCB layout will also effect the performance of both devices.
